it seems a battle has started unwrapping among two biggies namely, IBM and Oracle. According to the recent announcements made by IBM, Sun has lost many customers to Big Blue. The figures indicate that 235 of Sun Microsystems and HP customers have made a move to IBM platform in last three months.
The companies have moved their business workloads from Sun and HP to IBM’s server and storage systems. Elaborating further the company has cited that almost 2000 customers have migrated from competition to IBM and much of them are from HP and Sun.
Boasting of its platforms, the company has stated that its platforms are innovative and stable and caters to business requirements. Meanwhile, Oracle, the owner for Sun has detailed some of its plans for the later. As per the plans, the company expects to increase investment in Sparc, MySQL and Solaris.
The middleware provider expects to continue to “grow” Glassfish, and plans a “large investment” in MySQL.
