Amazon Web Services LLC (AWS), a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., has announced the availability of its AWS suite of infrastructure web services for businesses dealing in Asia Pacific region. Enterprises can utilize the companys platform to build their operations and run their applications in the cloud. The first AWS Asia Pacific Region located in Singapore is now open.
One of the most frequent and resounding requests over the last year has been for AWS to launch an Asia Pacific presence. We have heard it from Asia Pacific companies already using AWS in our US datacenters; weve heard it from our U.S. and European customers wanting to better serve Asia Pacific end-users; and weve heard it loud and clear from Asia Pacific businesses who preferred to wait to leverage the AWS infrastructure platform until we had a datacenter presence in Asia, said Andy Jassy, Senior Vice President of Amazon Web Services.
AWS was launched in 2006 to help businesses cut on the massive capital investment of building their own infrastructure or contract with a vendor for a fixed amount of datacenter capacity that they might or might not use.
Many businesses and developers in India are already using AWS. AWS has allowed us to create a flexible, dynamic, and highly scalable infrastructure while allowing us to focus on our core features, which allows us to bring new products and services to market much faster. We currently run about 80% of our websites and applications on AWS and we are looking to use more in the future. We love the pace of innovation, utility pricing model and overall flexibility that the cloud provides.
