Game publisher starts online
prepaid payment service
VIDEO game publisher Digital Media Exchange recently expanded
its online payment gateway, MobiusOnline (www.mobiusonline.net/),
to allow for purchasing other game and non-game related prepaid
cards issued by Globe, Globelines, Smart Telecommunications,
PLDT Vibe, Sun Cellular, Infocom, Level-Up! among others.
The inclusion of non-DME owned cards is part of the companys
expansion program from game publishing to other online services.
Its current product lines are the online games MU Online,
GunBound and GoPets.
The MobiusOnline service, which uses a virtual currency called
ePoints, was previously limited for prepaid cards payment to
players of DME games. The website is being reconstructed to
accommodate online purchasing of other items.
DME President Jojo Aonuevo said the company would be expanding
the MobiusOnline service, eventually including other retail
firms and merchants in the food and beverage business.
Current MobiusOnline partners include PinoyDVD.com,
GreenArcher.net,
Atenista.net, Peyups.com, USTexchange.com, and PinoyExchange.com.
More merchants are expected to sign up with MobiusOnline by the
end of the year.
Aonuevo said the company is currently talking to the venture
capital investors such as Japan Asia Investment Corporation, the
California Pacific Capital and a private Taiwanese investor for
additional capital for its expansion.
Were looking at about 5 million US dollars for our B sector
funding, Aonuevo said.
Aonuevo did not elaborate on specifics of their expansion plans
but said that the company is now focusing on online digital
content, targeted at both local and international markets.
